How to Take Your Makeup From Day to Night in 5 Minutes

The holiday season is one of our favorite times of year, not just because of the abundance of delicious homemade cookies, but also for the full social calendar brimming with good cheer. The thing is, running from the office to your post-work shindig means you need to pull a major magic act with your makeup game. No sweat! Just follow our easy step-by-step guide that’ll take your look from day to night in five minutes flat. From makeup tips on refreshing your foundation to how to slay eye makeup on top of your daytime look, we’ve got you covered.

Step 1: Refresh Your Base

This step is optional, but if it’s been a long day, then a quick foundation refresh can make a big difference. It’s also a good idea if you’re going for a dramatic holiday glam look.

Start by dabbing away sweat and oil with a blotting tissue. Now’s also a good time to clean up any smudged mascara or eyeliner using a cotton swab and Miracle Water 3-in-1 Micellar Cleanser. Dip the swab into the cleanser, then gently sweep away any fallout.

Next, use a foundation or CC cream that helps illuminate your skin tone. We recommend CC+ Cream Illumination with SPF 50+, a full-coverage foundation that features light-reflecting pigments for glowing skin. Since you’re layering a foundation on top of another, you could also combine a dab of face moisturizer with your foundation, which will create a softer finish while rehydrating.

Step 2: Bring on the Blush

Adding a little color to your cheeks is a must for any sort of nighttime affair—even if you’re aiming for a super simple makeup look for the evening. The flush of color helps you look vibrant with or without that second wind! Just a touch is all you need, especially if you already applied blush earlier in the day.

Simply swirl your Bye Bye Pores Blush), and lightly dust across the apples of your cheeks in an upward, sweeping motion. While you’re at it, consider adding just a hint of face highlighter to the high points of your face, including your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose, and the cupid’s bow.

Step 3: Maximize Your Eye Game

Your eyes present a major opportunity to take your makeup from day to night, and there are many ways to conquer the task. Whether you're a seasoned beauty guru or seeking eye makeup ideas for beginners, one of the below options for how to do eye makeup will help you transform your look from office hours to holiday glam.

Option #1: Go Smokey

If you already have an eyeshadow base, layer on one or two more colors to create a smokey eye. Quickly refresh your daytime base color, then add a darker shade to the outer corners and blend. For more dimension, add a third, medium shade color first and then the darker shadow at the corners.

Next, use a complementary shade of Hello Lashes+ Volumizing Mascara with Lash Serum—or some faux lashes!

Option #2: Create a Cat Eye

Whether you’re going for a tiny flick or a Cleopatra-style wing, an inky eyeliner is your holiday season must-have. After refreshing your base eyeshadow color (or wiping the old away), simply draw your preferred eyeliner look. For a hassle-free application, we recommend using your Superhero Liner, a liquid-gel super liner that features an Easy Glide Brush. Add a few swipes of mascara and you’ll be the belle of the holiday ball.

Option #3: Add a Hint of Radiance

In a serious rush? Grab your sparkliest eyeshadow and dab it onto the center of your lids with a brush or your fingertips. Pearlized eyeshadow is the easiest way to level up your eye game in the least amount of time. Superhero No-Tug Longwear Eyeshadow Sticks come in a variety of hues and finishes, including pearl. You can finish this easy makeup look with one or two coats of mascara and, if you’re feeling it, an eyelash curler.

Step 4: Don’t Hold Back on Your Lips

Adding a layer of Pillow Lips Lipstick comes in all the above shades. Plus, it’s infused with collagen to help your lips look fuller and boasts high-impact pigment that delivers major color payoff in just one swipe.

Step 5: Seal the Deal

Don’t forget to seal your hard work in with some setting spray or powder. For a boost of hydration, apply Bye Bye Pores Pressed Setting Powder instead. Available in three translucent shades, it delivers an airbrushed look by blurring the appearance of large pores and imperfections.
