Eyeliner Looks: New Ways to Switch Up Your Eyeliner Game

They say that variety is the spice of life—and this is especially true when it comes to makeup! If you’re in a bit of a beauty slump and seeking some inspiration, trying a few new eyeliner looks is certainly one way to step outside of the status quo. From playing with new colors—like green or blue—to experimenting with the shape of your cat eye, these easy eyeliner looks will make the whole “eyeliner for my eye shape” search that much faster.

Double Winged Eyeliner

A simple cat eye flick will always be classic, but one way to add a little panache to your day is to double up with two flicks on either eye instead of one! The key to pulling off this eyeliner look is keeping the lines super crisp and even. This can be achieved with a high-quality liquid eyeliner—such as Superhero Liner—which features a unique brush hair tip that won’t fray and glides on like a dream.

To get this look, create your typical cat eye on your top lash and elongate the flick to your preferred length. (The longer the flick, the more dramatic the look.) Next, draw a second wing, this time stemming off the bottom lash that is about the same length or slightly shorter. You can pair a double-wing with a nude eye, smokey eye, or a sheer wash of eyeshadow, which should be done before applying the eyeliner.

High Contrast

This fun, brightly-hued eyeliner look takes its inspiration from the color wheel. It combines two contrasting colors of your choice, such as gold with purple eyeliner or sheer pink with rich emerald green.

Start by applying eyeshadow to the entire lid stopping right around the crease. We recommend Superhero No-Tug Waterproof Eyeshadow Stick in the shade of your choice. You can blend the eyeshadow out with clean fingertips. For the color combinations we mentioned above, try either Gallant Gold or Passionate Pearl.

Next, take a pencil eyeliner—we like Superhero No-Tug Sharpenable Gel Eyeliner in Powerful Plum or Mystic Emerald—and apply it along the upper lash line. To soften the look, smudge out the eyeliner with an angled eyeliner makeup brush, pulling the outer corners up and out slightly for a lifted look. Don’t forget one or two coats of mascara

Graphic Eyeliner

For another spin on the cat eye, consider wearing a bold, graphic eyeliner. This one’s definitely not for the faint of heart and trust that it will make an impact wherever you’re headed. You can use either liquid eyeliner or pencil eyeliner for this style; the former will look slick and polished while the latter will have a softer feel.

Start by applying a sheer wash of eyeshadow to your eyelid and stopping right around the crease. For a more neutral look, we recommend Superhero No-Tug Waterproof Eyeshadow Stick in either Silk Armor, Courageous Cream, or Transformative Taupe.

Next, take your Superhero Liner and create a line on your upper lash that extends out to about your eyebrow. For that graphic pop, draw a line that connects the tip of your wing up and over to your crease until it's about one-quarter across the length of your lid. (If you’re feeling daring, consider trying a white eyeliner look using this technique.)

Complete the look with your favorite mascara, such as Hello Lashes+ Volumizing Mascara with Lash Serum, which conditions your lashes while creating a fuller look.

Soft & Smudgy Blue Eyeliner

This blue eyeliner look takes a striking hue and fuses it with a sense of softness for a truly wow-worthy moment. Start with a bare lid, or you can add a sheer wash of neutral color as your base. (Again, we suggest Superhero No-Tug Waterproof Eyeshadow Stick in either Silk Armor, Courageous Cream, or Transformative Taupe). Make sure to blend well.

Next, apply Superhero No-Tug Sharpenable Gel Eyeliner in Bold Blue to your upper lash line, extending it out beyond the outer corner. Apply the same eyeliner to the outer third of your lower lash line (not on the waterline, but just below it.) For that smudged effect, take your time blending out the blue eyeliner on the top and bottom with an angled eyeliner brush. Finish with your favorite mascara.

Take these cool eyeliner looks and run with them. Wear them to that virtual meeting, happy hour, or to a special event.
